About Christian

Christian White (b. 1953, Rome, Italy) is an American painter best known for his evocative depictions of the Long Island landscape. Born into a family of artists, White began studying life drawing with his father at the age of twelve. By thirteen, he was studying welding, stained glass, and mosaic in Holland, and at fifteen attended the Liceo Artistico while living at the American Academy in Rome. He later earned a B.F.A. in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design.

White’s work has been exhibited widely throughout New York City and Long Island, including at the Parrish Museum, the Nassau County Museum of Fine Art, the Heckscher Museum, and the Long Island Museum. He has been represented by prominent New York galleries such as Salander-O’Reilly, Barbara Ingber Gallery, and Steven Adams Gallery, and his work has been reviewed in The New York Times, Newsday, and other publications.

His paintings are held in numerous public and private collections, including the National Academy, the Heckscher Museum, the Long Island Museum, the Bessemer Trust, and notable private collections. In addition to painting, White is an accomplished sculptor and recently completed a major limestone relief commission for Stony Brook University.
